Chesterfield Best Bitter
(4.5% ABV)
Chesterfield Best
Bitter is a robust chestnut premium bitter with pronounced
malt character, balanced with a resinous hoppy ending. This
is a beer brewed to be like beers used to be – a traditional
reminder of the best from years ago and purposefully named
to put Chesterfield back on the brewing map. |
 |
Sgt. Pepper Stout
(5.5%
ABV)
This award winning
full-bodied stout is laced with black pepper (yes, it
really is brewed with the addition of freshly ground black pepper!), which is complemented by a generous spicy hop balance. A mixture of Maris
Otter pale malt, Amber malt and Pale Chocolate malt is used, along with
the traditional addition of Northern Brewer & Fuggle hops which give an assertive hop balance to the brew. What else could it be called other than
"Sgt. Pepper"? A distinctively different take on stout, this ‘big’ beer is proving to be extremely popular.

Land Of Hop & Glory
(4.5%
ABV)
Land of Hop & Glory is an award-winning ‘Golden Ale’ with a more-ish biscuit malt and a long complex hop finish.
It was Spire Brewery’s first ever brew and has quickly
established itself as a firm favourite with everyone who tries it. This was confirmed at the 2006 Peterborough Beer Festival where it was awarded two Medals – Silver for Best Bitter of the Festival and Silver for Best Beer from a New Brewery
- an amazing result after only four months of brewing!

Dark
Side of the Moon
(4.3% ABV)
A luscious, tasty deep
garnet coloured mild, with sweet toffee overtones, balanced
with traditional English Fuggles and Goldings hops.
Very more-ish! |

Whiter
Shade of Pale
Available April - September
(4.0% ABV)
Our lightest beer to date in terms
of colour, this pale straw-coloured session bitter has a
malty emphasis and a subtle lemon resinous hop finish. It is
refreshingly smooth and deliberately avoids using grapefruit
flavoured hops. This is a particularly satisfying ale, with it’s frothy
pure-white head helped by a generous addition of wheat
malt. |
 |
Twist and Stout
(4.5%
ABV)
A smooth rich stout with notes of coffee
and roast malt, followed by a dry finish on the palate and
ample hot bitterness. |
 |
Spire IPA
(4.9% ABV)
A strong traditional
amber India Pale Ale using only the best English malts, and
balanced by a selection of the finest English hops to give
that extra bitter note. |
 |
Overture
Available October - March
(3.9%
ABV)
Overture is a traditional well-balanced, light
amber, smooth and malty session bitter made from Pale
Crystal malt and English hops. |
 |
Britannia Cream Ale
(6.4%
ABV)
Britannia Cream Ale is a new interpretation of IPA with a German hoppy twist. Stronger than most and full of character, we have been told by many devotees that it is “deceptively drinkable!”. It was first brewed as a Special for the Barrow Hill Rail Ale Festival in May 2006,
and named after the locomotive that the beers are set against.
It was an instant hit and became one of Spire Brewery’s
signature beers. This strong IPA has a smooth malty texture with caramelised orange hop flavours coming from the liberal addition of Tettnang hops.

Nocturne
Porter
Available January - March
(5.7% ABV)
Smooth, dark-garnet porter with hints of
coffee and chocolate. Brewed by local CAMRA members as a
festival special for Chesterfield Beer Festival, it
went on to win by popular vote. If you need a pick-me-up,
don’t reach for that cup of coffee - just enjoy this rich,
creamy drink with its cappuccino-like frothy head!

80 Shilling Ale (80/-)
Available October - November
(4.3%
ABV)
No, that's not how much
it costs! Reflecting the brewer’s Scottish roots,
a deep copper-coloured malty brew, well enhanced by both
Fuggles and Styrian Goldings hops. Brewed for St. Andrew’s
Day in November, this beer proved to be yet another immediate winner and
has gone from a seasonal special to part of the regular
output of the brewery. Hoppier than most traditional 80/-
ales, this beer also shows off the McLaren tartan as the
background on its pump clip. |
